Summer, that time of the year when mercury levels are soaring. And it just keeps getting hotter with every passing year. Each year promises to be hotter than the previous year. And to make it even better lets add fresh coconut water to it.

a summer cocktail with gin
For a summer cocktail, gin won’t be a bad deal. For those who aren’t aware gin is a redistilled spirit with botanicals. The raw material source wouldn’t matter because the distilled spirit would again have to undergo another distillation by adding botanicals to it. Botanical being the star, which adds the main character to gin. You could add as many botanicals as you wish. But for it to be called gin, it has to be juniper berry in the botanicals. With every gin distillery having its secret ingredient and recipe, every gin is unique in its flavours and characters. There are various styles of redistilling gin, which we will try to explain in our later blogs
Fresh coconut water can be a great hydrating agent. Most of us are aware of the benefits it provides us with. And I wouldn’t be the right person to comment on the science part of it. I would prefer to stick to bartending and leave the science to the experts 🙂 . But one thing here is yet to be researched, If mixed with ethanol, how does fresh coconut water react 😉 . Does it still manage to hold on to the same benefits as before the additoin of ethanol? But as a bartender, one thing I can assure you is it tastes amazing if added in cocktails. And the combination of gin with fresh coconut water in cocktails is fantastic. Resulting in a great summer cocktail.
the cocktail mixer
Then we follow it up with some cocktail mixers. The lavender syrup does add a great flavouring agent and also provides the much-required sweetness to the cocktail. Also, the addition of pineapple juice and tonic water. This results in sweetness and a touch of sourness, which gives the cocktail a refreshing feel. The addition of lime and the large pickle lime ( Vadukapuli Naranga Urugai) make it a perfect balanced cocktail. Yeah, this is not on the classic list of cocktails and is yet to be baptised. Making it difficult to find it elsewhere
