Cashew Feni Cocktail
Cashew feni, have you never heard of it? Probably you must have never visited Goa. Cashew Feni is GI ( geographical indication ) to Goa, India. We won’t be talking about Goa today, Feni – Cashew Feni Cocktail, is what we are here for. Sourced from the juice of Cashew apple. Cashew Feni can only be produced and bottled in Goa. Everything from the fruits, water, distillation and bottling has to be sourced from Goa. If it does not meet any of the above criteria we can’t call in cashew feni

There are no verified historical documents on how it originated. But from what I believe, Cashew Feni has always been a part of the Goan culture. A spirit distilled in almost every home in Goa. It has a very strong nose. Open a bottle of cashew feni, rest assured everyone present in the room will know. Thanks to the aroma from the bottle. Not a drink you would prefer to have on the rock till you get a hang of it. But goes wonderfully well with mixers .“Cashew Feni Cocktails”, the best way to have it. But if not done well, the cocktail would have an inimical effect, and might even make you hate Feni. It needs an expert hand or an experienced bartender in crafting “ Cashew Feni Cocktail”. Guess you’re at the right place 😉 .
This cocktail comes without any burden of History behind it. This one would undeniably rank high up there in cocktails if you would ask me. One of my favourites for the taste and ease of making it. The easy-to-source and fresh ingredients used in crafting this cocktail make it even more of a steal. A refreshing drink which can be had any time of the day and a great summer cocktail too.

how to make a cashew fenny cocktail
- Add four lime wedges to an old-fashioned glass
- Add 2 bar spoon sugar to the lime
- Gently muddle the wedges ( do not kill it 😉 )
- Fill the glass up with cracked ice
- Add 50 ml cashew feni to it
- Gently lift the drink with a bar spoon
- Drop a freshly cut orange wheel in the drink and let it sink
The orange does the magic here. The flavours from the orange enhance the flavour of the feni to give it that refreshing feeling. And the sugar and lime give it a slightly tangy taste. Making it not too sweet or not too sour. This all enhances the existing flavours of the cashew feni in the cocktail. This one is unquestionably one of my favourite cocktails. Highly recommended cocktail for anyone who loves or hates cashew feni.
